I'm a relative newcomer to Uvalde and didn't know Don Mario as well as many of you. He sought to educate me on a different history of Uvalde. (I was, perhaps, a somewhat reluctant student.) He was at first a frustrating foil, but then became a friend. I wish I had known him longer and better. Rest, friend. Con gran respeto.
Mario and I went to high school together and then on to nursing school. I remember him as very intelligent, thoughtful, and kind. He was a generous and thoughtful presence who will be missed by many. May God bless you, my friend.
While some will remember Mr. Cruz as the man standing on the corner of Main and Getty holding a protest sign about our water, I will remember him as a kind, gentle, man who was always ready to stand up for what he believed in. When he was a member of the Hospital Board, he was always in support of activities and changes that would help our community, our hospital staff, and those less fortunate.
I will miss your hugs and your beautiful smile, Mr. Cruz. May you rest in peace with our Heavenly Father.
Una gran persona que amaba la vida. He lived life with a passion to aid others. His greatest compassion was his babies Yorkies. It was an enormous blessing sharing times when he returned to Uvalde. Today, God grants him an eternal home with HIm. He will be missed but remain in our hearts. Pray for him.
Mario is such a good client and friend for over 20 years. He was also such a polite guy and he just never would call me by my first name but just “doctor“. He loved his Yorkies and had such wonderful stories to tell about his work! I will miss him, and already have! !
Mario was a good friend to me and many other's. I will miss Mario's friendship and hope, that he is finally at peace, I asked my brother to great him in Heaven and keep him company. My children, wife and me will greatly miss you Bro.
