Felipe Flores Torres Sr., age 77, of Uvalde Texas passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Uvalde, Texas. Felipe Flores Torres Sr. was born in Batesville, Texas on May 1, 1944 to Esteban Rios Torres and Severa Flores. He is preceded in death by wife, Esperanza P. Torres, both parents; Esteban Rios Torres and Severa Flores, brothers; Adolfo Torres, Alfredo Torres, Pedro Torres, Jesus Torres, sister, Elvira Torres, son-in-law, Johnny Arredondo. Mr. Torres established Torres Construction in the early 70’s and proudly built many homes that still stand today. Felipe’s greatest love was working in his community being elected as a Commissioner to the county of Zavala for over 12 years and as Justice of the Peace for Zavala county Precinct 1. Mr. While serving as Commissioner in Batesville his greatest accomplishment was to get the roads paved. Torres also was an instructor for construction in Eagle Pass, Texas where he help many students develop their love for construction. Giving back to the community was very important as he served as Boy Scout leader and Little League Coach. To Felipe there were many lessons he passed on to his children but non-greater then how to love each other. His time at home was dedicated to his family and there was never a person he met that did not become a friend Felipe Flores Torres Sr., will be missed most by his loving son, Felipe Torres Jr., daughters; Sylvia Tania Torres, Leticia Arredondo, Margot Torres, Selena Martinez Torres, all of Uvalde, Texas, Rachel (William”Bill”) Oberst, of Santa Clara, California, Marylou (Julian) Reynoso, of Stockton, California, Laura (Luis) Capeles, of San Antonio, Texas, brothers; Rosendo (Alma) Torres, of Batesville, Texas, Raul Torres, Paul Torres, both of Houston, Texas, sisters; Alicia (Rex) Boyce, Benita (Ralph) Garcia, Diana Torres, all of Houston, Texas, Gloria Torres, of El Paso, Texas. 15 grandchildren, 11great-granchildren, ex-wife, Maria Nicolasa Torres, whom remained at his side until the end. Numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers; Hilario Torres, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Paul Torres, Raul Torres, of Houston, Texas, Rosendo Torres, Arturo De Leon, of Batesville, Texas, Roberto Rendon Jr., of Uvalde, Texas, William “Bill’ Oberst, of Santa Clara, California, Luis Capeles, of San Antonio, Texas, Julian Reynoso, of Stockton, California and Felipe Castellanos III of Fremont, California. Gentlemen serving as Pallbearers; Felipe Torres Jr., of La Pryor, Texas, Daniel Torres Monreal, Marcus Torres, Xzavier Torres Monreal, all of Stockton, California, Eric Sandoval Jr., Adam Capeles, both of San Antonio, Texas. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Friday, June 4, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary Thursday, June 3, 2021 and Friday, June 4, 2021 both days at 7:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. At St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, La Pryor, Texas.
