Abel Jaimes' Obituary
Abel Jaimes, age 76 of Uvalde, Texas passed away surrounded by his family, Monday, March 22, 2021 in Uvalde, Texas. Abel was born in Cotulla, Texas on September 16, 1944 and preceded in death by his parents; Guadalupe Jaimes & Sara Charo-Jaimes brothers; Eliseo, Armando, Lupe, Carlos Jaimes and sister; Sylvia Villarreal.
Mr. Jaimes graduated from Cotulla Hight School in May 1964. He played football and lettered in all sports from 1960 to 1964. After graduating from high school Abel played football at Texas A&I earning a teaching degree. On April 22nd,1967, he married Maria Imelda Ochoa and had 4 beautiful children, Melissa, Kathy, Mark and Terry Jaimes. Mr. Jaimes served as Director of Athletics in Del Rio, Texas and became a school administrator. He later moved to Uvalde, Texas where he served as an Assistant Principal at Uvalde High School. Abel also was the Principle at Flores Elementary and La Pryor High School. After a lifetime of work in education, Mr. Jaimes retired from public education in 2002.
Mr. Jaimes will be missed most by his wife of 53 years, Maria Imelda Jaimes of Uvalde, Texas sons; Mark Steven (Erica) Jaimes of Austin, Texas, Terry Andrew (Catherine) Jaimes of Kerrville, Texas, daughters; Melissa (Pablo) Ybarra of San Antonio, Texas, Kathy (Adrian) Martinez of Del Rio, Texas brothers; George Jaimes of San Antonio, Texas, Gilbert Jaimes of San Marcos, Texas, Jesus Jaimes of Carrizo Springs, Texas grandchildren; Jacob (Maryama El Haddad) Jaimes Ybarra of Spring, Texas, Brenden Stuart Jaimes of Austin, Texas, Miranda Lee Martinez of Del Rio, Texas, Jorden Riley Jaimes of Austin, Texas, Sara Elaine Martinez of Del Rio, Texas, Juan Abel Ybarra, San Antonio, Texas, Carrington Grace Jaimes, of Austin, Texas, Adrian Lee Martinez Jr. of Del Rio, Texas, Cooper Bennett Jaimes of Kerrville, Texas, Beckett Andrew Jaimes of Kerrville, Texas and Caroline Grace Jaimes of Kerrville, Texas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home-Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas
A recitation of the Holy Rosary 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 30, 2021 a Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home-Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 408 Fort Clark Road, Uvalde, Texas
Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home.
