Amalia Zapata, age 89, of Uvalde, Texas passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Uvalde, Texas. Amalia Zapata was born in Mexico, on July 10, 1931 to Crecencio Garcia and Domitila Reyes. She is preceded in death by both parents, Crecencio Garcia and Domitila Reyes Garcia, husband, Antonio Zapata, brothers, Eusebio Garcia, Fortunato Garcia Reyes, sisters; Juana Garcia, Rosa Garcia.
Amalia Zapata will be missed most by her loving sons, Felipe (Virginia) Zapata, of Mexico, Antonio (Gabriela) Zapata, Joel (Cristina) Zapata, all of Uvalde, Texas, Servando Zapata, of Plainview, Texas, Javier (Carmen) Zapata, of Brownsville, Texas, Blas (Dolores) Zapata, of Matamoros, Mexico, Homero Zapata, of North Carolina, Miguel Zapata, of Atlanta, Georgia, daughters, Cipriana Gehlser, Susana (Robert) Ybarra, Ofelia (Abraham) Hernandez, Matamoros, Mexico, brother, Eulalio Garcia Reyes, of Mexico, sisters; Petra Garcia and Maricela Garcia, both of Mexico, 29 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren.
The Zapata Family would like to thank everyone for their cooperation during this time as we allow only 75 percent capacity and required mask coverings during all services.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas.
Due to Covid-19, no Vigil is being held and the Zapata Family will be reciting the Holy Rosary on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 and Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 408 Fort Clark Road, Uvalde, Texas.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, 527 Sgt. Alvarez Lane, Uvalde, Texas.
