Carolyn Ellison's Obituary
Carolyn Dianne Smith Ellison, 70 of Brackettville passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. She has been a resident of Amistad Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the past 2 and
half years.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1952 in Brownwood, Texas to Franklin & Doris Smith and graduated from Del City High School in Oklahoma.
Carolyn worked as a Cosmetologist for many of her younger years. She met her husband at a meat market in Louisiana working as a cashier. She also was a manager for Target in Houston, Texas. She was their church secretary for Calvary Nazarene church in Cordova, Tennessee for many years. It was a job she dearly loved but it was not a job to her, it was a ministry. She enjoyed people and wanted to be friends with anyone she could. In 2009, her husband retired, which he was head over maintenance of the same church. They moved back to Texas to be with their family in Brackettville. She then enjoyed retirement with her husband and was a full-time grandmother which was her favorite of all things she enjoyed.
If you were to see her around town, you can bet she would have at least one of her grandchildren with her most of the time and more than likely enjoying an Icee with them.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter; Julie Creel and husband Ricky of Brackettville, one brother; Frank Smith & Carol of Oklahoma, one sister; Cindy Burton & James of Oklahoma, one sister-in-law; Jill Smith of Texas, four grandchildren;
Jeremy Ellison of Tennessee, Kymie Earwood and her husband Travis, Kristopher Creel and Kamron Creel all of Brackettville. She also had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well all whom she loved dearly. She was an aunt just like she was a grandmother to all! Plus, she had many "adopted" as she would say kids and grandkids.
She will be greatly missed by her family as well by many friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Ellison, one brother: Denver D. Smith, parents; Franklin D. & Doris J. Smith
