Diego M Gonzales' Obituary
Diego M. Gonzales, born March 5, 1935, in Uvalde, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. He was the son of Maria Martinez and Jacinto Gonzalez Sr.
Diego worked as a laborer at various feed stores and packing sheds throughout his life. Though he kept to himself, he was known for his warm smile and quick wit. He enjoyed spending his time as an avid reader, and loved listening to football and baseball games on the radio. Diego was dedicated to following the scores and updates of his favorite teams, including the Uvalde Coyotes, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Astros.
A true Catholic, Diego was deeply spiritual and found comfort in his faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, six sisters: Juanita Renya (husband Maurilio), Antonia Sandoval (husband Rodolpho Sr.), Ascension "Chene" Ortiz (husband Oscar), Isabel "Chavela" Gonzalez, Guadalupe "Lupe Grande" Gonzalez, and Guadalupe M. Gonzalez; and four brothers: Pablo M. Gonzalez (wife Aurora), Jacinto M. Gonzalez Jr. (wife Elida "Sista"), Ernesto M. Gonzalez(wife Teresita Clara), and Jose Luciano Gonzalez (wife Francisca). eight nephews: Deacon Ernesto L. Gonzalez, John Paul Gonzales Sr., Robert Gonzales, Luis Carlos "Chacho" Gonzalez, Paul Sandoval, Ruben Sandoval, David Santos, Richard "Wichina" Santos, and two nieces: Maria Elena Sandoval and Maria Estella Gonzales.
Diego is survived by his brother Faustino M. Gonzales (wife Manuela), and a very numerous family of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
A Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 A.M, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church., 408 Fort Clark Rd.
Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Diego will be remembered for his loving spirit, wit, and his unwavering commitment to family and faith. He also enjoyed arguing with his brothers! His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
