Irene L. Ortiz's Obituary
Irene Lara Ortiz, 65, passed away Sunday, March 18,2018 peacefully in Uvalde, Texas.
Mrs. Ortiz was born in Mexico but then later moved and lived in Uvalde, Texas.
She is proceeded in death by her father; Jose de Jose Lara mother; Belia Hernandez de Hernandez son; Ruben L. Ortiz.
Mrs. Ortiz was involved with the Uvalde community for many years. Participating in the infamous march for school equality. Irene was an activist for human rights at heart. When she was not helping the community, she enjoyed spending time with her family. There was not a person that she met that didn’t become her friend.
Mrs. Ortiz will be missed most by her husband; Rolando Herrera of 16 years; daughters; Teresa (Pat) Molina, Jennifer (Javier) Magana, Leticia (Robert) Pough sons; Jose Ricardo (James Hanna) L. Ortiz, Jesus A. (Brenda S.) Ibarra, Juan A. (Angel) Ibarra, Greg (Tina) Herrera Jr., sister; Amelia Carter, 22 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren.
Gentlemen with the honor of Pallbearers Pedro Marigal Jr, Jason Sanchez, Jeremiah Ibarra, Santos Rivas,
Conrad Flores and Johnny Flores.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 1:00P.M. To 9:00P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home,
424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas Chapel of Serenity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 2:00P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 408 Fort Clark Rd, Uvalde, Texas.
Interment will follow at a later date.
