Obituary for J. Jesus Guillen Chavez

With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of J. Jesus Guillen Chavez, who departed this life at the age of 75. He was beloved community member, and a man who brought warmth and joy to many through simple acts of kindness and hard work.
Born on July 2, 1950, in San Jose, Michoacán, Mexico, Jesus was the son of the late Ramona Guillen and David Guillen Chavez. He was one of 15 siblings, and though three passed away in early childhood, he often shared memories of those he remembered: Ezequiel Guillen, Maria Guillen, Rosa Guillen, and Jose Guillen.
In 2012, Jesus made his home in Batesville, Texas, where he quickly became known and loved by the community. Many came to know him as the “frutero,” a friendly and familiar face selling fruits, plants, and miscellaneous goods throughout the area. He frequently traveled to the Valley in Texas to source the items he would later sell, always with dedication and pride in his work.
Jesus had a natural gift for bringing joy to others. He especially cherished the laughter of children, finding happiness in their joy. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and tending to his plants, which he nurtured with the same care he gave to those around him.
A man of quiet faith, he was a devoted Catholic and carried his beliefs humbly throughout his life.
Jesus is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Guillen Silva. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his generosity, humor, and kind spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramona Guillen and David Guillen Chavez, and three siblings who passed in early childhood.

Jesus will be remembered for the love he gave, the stories he told, and the way he lived his life—with purpose, resilience, and heart. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
