I will always remember the jokes, laughter and good nature of my Uncle Leon. His quick wit was in every conversation. When I was born, he was stationed in Germany and after getting a letter telling him about me, responded in future letters calling me Vicky because Veronica was too hard to spell or write! He called me Vicky for my whole life! 😍 Leon was a hard worker, but he worked at his own pace. He and Aunt Nancy managed Motel 6’s for quite a few years. He worked hard on the maintenance at each of the motels and Nancy did the financial and other stuff. When they retired to “their own mountain” out of Uvalde, he worked hard on the land and stayed outside to enjoy nature every hour that he could. He kept water buckets out for the wildlife during droughts because he cared about them and enjoyed them so much. I haven’t gotten to spend a lot of time with him over these latter years, but was fortunate to have gone to see him a few months ago. I will miss my Uncle. I love you Uncle Leon. ❤️
