Sandra F Rangel
Cuate was my childhood crush; it was between him and Mando Flores. It only lasted until he beat me in a street race ( I still can't believe how he would beat me on a asphalt street with his bare feet. LOL). It was a competition after that.
He would bring home 1st place ribbons on field day from school and was a pretty good athlete as he grew up. I enjoyed playing with him along with his brother Roberto, my brother Prieto, Mando, and Santos on Bates Street ( I was "La Machetona " as my grandmother named me in the neighborhood) Rolando was the bookworm and Junior was little so I babied him always pinching his chubby cheeks. My buelo Bart would load up the truck and take all of us to the river during the summer and he and Roberto were always the best swimmers, we enjoyed eating Moras from Rosa's tree and playing streetball, putting on plays in my backyard We were the "Sandlot" on Bates Street. We all grew up and moved on with our lives but we will always have our childhood memories You beat us again Cuate this time in reaching heaven. My condolences to all the Carranza family.
