Lee Alanis, Jr.'s Obituary
Lee Alanis, Jr. was born in New Braunfels Texas to Librado Alanis, Sr. and Angelita Padilla Alanis on April 26, 1932. He went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2019. He married Maria Juarez on September 8, 1950 in New Braunfels. In his younger years Lee played baseball, participated in bowling leagues at Comal Bowl and enjoyed playing pool in different tournaments. He and his wife Maria traveled to Mexico where he participated in tournaments held in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Las Vegas, Nevada. Lee also umpired for many years in little league games. He was active in the CIMA Club for many years helping raise money for scholarships to benefit students wanting to attend college. He was constantly helping area veterans with fundraisers to help raise money for many causes.
Lee worked at Mission Valley Mills for 25 years and at First National Bank on the plaza for 26 years finally retiring at age 62. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church volunteering at bingo games and in charge of setting up the church festival every year. Lee also served on the parish council at Holy Family Church.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank Alanis; sisters Anita Camareno, Luisa Aguillon and Lidia Carrillo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Maria A. Alanis; son Lee Alanis, III and his wife Esperanza; daughters Diana Alanis, Gloria Riojas and her husband Trinidad, Mary Esther Rodriguez and her husband Johnny and Delia Alanis Gonzales; 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 245 S. Hidalgo Ave. from 5 PM to 8 PM with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 PM. Visitation continues Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 9 AM to 9:45 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM. Celebrant will be Rev. Ralainirina Francois Rakotovoavy, M.S.F.
Interment will follow at Comal Cemetery in New Braunfels.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hector Rivera, Markey Alanis, Melinda Aguirre, Jonathan Rodriguez, Lorenzo Rodriguez and Lee Anthony Alanis. First Honorary pallbearer will be Erik Martinez and other honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Alanis, Brandon Rivera Dylan Rivera, Devon Felan, Mark Alanis, John Jacob Rivera, Hayden Ramirez, Caleb Rivera and Isaac Alanis.
A reception will follow in the church hall immediately following the interment.
