Lucia G. Ybarra, 91, of Knippa, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 8, 1934, in Knippa to Jose Miguel Gonzalez and Victoria Martinez, Lucia lived a full and generous life rooted in love, faith, and family.
Lucia dedicated many years of her life as a compassionate caregiver and CNA, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was known for her kind heart, strong work ethic, and unshakable devotion to her family.
Lucia had a zest for life and simple joys. She loved visiting the casino, sewing, and especially making her famous tamales—a tradition cherished by her loved ones. She found great joy in family gatherings, sharing stories, and sipping coffee during long chats with her sisters. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her children to caring for her elder sisters, always leading with love and grace.
She was a devout Catholic and took comfort in her faith throughout her life.
Lucia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Felipe Ybarra; her son, Phillip Ybarra; her parents; her brother Medardo Gonzales; sisters Leonor Cueller and Francisca Martinez; and her great-great-granddaughter Tess Marie Mata.
She is survived by her loving children: daughters Isabel Morales and Ana Hill; sons David Ybarra and wife Liz, and Moses Ybarra. Lucia leaves behind seven grandchildren: Veronica Mata and husband Jerry, Renata Garcia and husband Saul, Erik Morales and wife Estella, Victoria Streeter and husband Andrew, Robert Hill and companion Ryan Gonzales, Allison Valadez and husband Eddie, Erica Brundage and husband Garrett. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Faith Mata, Brianna Morales, Mhakayelah Morales, Dhariyan Morales, Nevaeh Streeter, Saige Rogers, Kara June Streeter, Ella Rose Morales, Riona Brundage, Andrew Jacob Garcia, and Philip Mathew Garcia; and one great-great-grandchild, King Kai Garcia one sister Magdalena Canales (Nena).
Lucia’s legacy of love, strength, and family devotion will live on through all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 A.M, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church., 408 Fort Clark Rd.
Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
