Lucio G. Vasquez, 71, of Batesville, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 31, 1954, in Batesville to Angel Vasquez and Roberta Guedea.
A hardworking man with a deep love for the land, Lucio spent his life harvesting crops in the fields, working with cotton, and tending cattle. His strong hands and even stronger heart were known to all who worked alongside him.
Lucio was a man of many passions. He found joy in the quiet of fishing, the strum of his guitar, and the rhythm of the hunt. He took pride in caring for his plants and animals and held a deep respect for the natural world. A man of faith, Lucio was a devoted Catholic who lived his values through his kindness and humility.
He is survived by his longtime partner of many years, Teresita Medrano; his sons, Lucio Vasquez Jr. and his companion Tanya, and Andrew Medrano Vasquez and his companion Dora. He leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Ethan Angel Vasquez, JoeAnthony Bosquez, Jeremiah A. Vasquez, Arianna N. Vasquez, Jennaida Bosquez, and Kimberly N. Vasquez.
Lucio is preceded in death by his parents, Angel and Roberta Vasquez; his son, Simon Vasquez; and his granddaughter, Jilliana N. Vasquez.
Lucio's presence, wisdom, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will live on through the generations he helped shape.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M.
Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home.
