Maria Felix Sanchez De Ruiz's Obituary
Maria Felix Sanchez de Ruiz, 78, of Uvalde, Texas passed away peacefully in Chihuahua, Mexico.
She was born on March 1, 1948, in Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato, Mexico to Isidro Sanchez and Delfina Delgado.
Maria was a devoted mother to her two children, Luis Fernando and Aracely and a good friend to the entire extended Avila Arellano family who took her in as another member of the clan. She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went.
She loved to travel with her children, visiting Mexico states such as Jalisco, Nayarit, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Veracruz, Chiapas, Yucatan, Oaxaca, and Chihuahua. In the U.S. they took road trips to New Mexico and different areas of Colorado. She rarely slept during the drive because she didn’t want to miss any of the scenery.
Maria also loved plants and had a very large variety of them and spent a lot of her time caring for them while she could. She didn’t get to see her immediate family often but always kept in touch with her surviving brothers through long phone calls.
Maria was preceded in death by her first husband Joel Angel Ruiz and second husband Jose V. Hernandez; her parents Isido Sanchez and Delfina Delgado; her sister Manuela Sanchez de Vasquez, brothers Zenon Sanchez, Presciliano Sanchez, and Vicente (Abdon) Sanchez.
She is survived by her loving children; Luis Fernando Ruiz of Uvalde, Texas and daughter Aracely Ruiz of Uvalde, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers Raymundo (Goyo) Sanchez, Lorenzo Sanchez, and Jose Carmen (Pedro) Sanchez, all of Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 A.M, Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church., 408 Fort Clark Rd.
Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
