She was preceded in death by her beloved son Sergio Valverde; her parents; Mr. Jesus & Mrs. Margarita Rios her sister; Diana Samora; her nephews Jai Rios, David Silva, and Lucas Samora IV; and her great-nephew Zachary Morales.
Olivia is survived by her grandchildren; Isabella Louise and Sergio Alfonso Valverde of Albuquerque, New Mexico her devoted sister Dora Elia Morales and husband Antonio of Cedar Park, Texas; sister Irma Martinez of Uvalde, Texas; brother Xavier Rios and wife Cynthia of Uvalde, Texas; sister Soraya and husband Jesse Cruz of Uvalde, Texas; and brother Walter Rios and wife Filomena of San Antonio, Texas. A woman of many talents and deep compassion, Olivia was a professional cook known for her delicious home-cooked meals—especially her enchiladas, which brought warmth and joy to every gathering. Her love for food was matched only by her love for storytelling, painting, and caring for animals, especially her cherished cats and dogs.
Olivia was a long-time member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Uvalde, Texas, where her faith gave her peace and purpose.
But Olivia was more than just a beloved daughter, sister, and mother. She was a second mother and grandmother to all of her nieces and nephews. Her love reached far beyond bloodlines—she had a way of making everyone feel seen, safe, and cared for. Whether it was her quiet strength, her comforting words, or the way she always made you feel at home with her cooking and presence, Olivia showed up when you needed her most.
She gave her heart without hesitation. Even in her final days, she reminded us all what it means to love selflessly. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find peace in knowing that her suffering is over and that she is finally at rest.
