Rachel Diaz Garcia's Obituary
Born in February of 1947 to Pablo Sr. and Clotilde Diaz in Uvalde, Texas, Rachel Diaz Garcia was the matriarch of a large and loving family. She raised three generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with her never-ending, extended family. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rachel Diaz Garcia, had an immeasurable amount of love to give. She was an incredulously social woman who was present in all the lives of her family members, as a caregiver and confidant.
She was the Tia who would cook out on weekends, hosting large family gatherings often. She was the grandmother who raised all her grandchildren and more. She was the best friend who would travel with you, just for the sake of being with you. Rachel loved Tejano music and loved to dance at any chance she could. She loved Thanksgiving and making her family-famous stuffing. Rachel Diaz Garcia was the beating heart of the her family.
She leaves behind a legacy of family unity, love, and togetherness. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue through her descendants, as well as with those who knew her, and those who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
Rachel Diaz Garcia, born on February 1st, 1947 to Pablo Sr. and Clotilde Diaz in Uvalde, Texas and died on October 4th, 2024 at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held Friday morning on October 11th, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Sermon to be given by Father Mike Marsh.
