Rojelio M. Martinez Sr.'s Obituary
Rojelio M. Martinez of Uvalde, Texas, passed away Friday, June 19 2026, peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Uvalde, Texas, Rojelio married his beloved wife Alicia Martinez in 1981 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They shared 45 years of marriage. He retired from Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde.
A warm, outgoing soul, Rojelio loved being in the company of others. He enjoyed meeting with friends and social groups daily at area restaurants, where his laughter, stories, and easy smile brightened every table. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching baseball and other sports.
Rojelio took great pride in his youth as a member of the famous Uvalde Coyote football team. He was part of the 1972 squad that captured the state championship, defeating Lewisville in Austin, Texas — a triumph still celebrated in Uvalde and remembered by teammates, family, and longtime fans.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years; his son, Rojelio Martinez Jr., and wife Melissa of Victoria, Texas; his daughter, Ana Lisa Conde, and husband David of Uvalde, Texas; grandchildren Destiny Martinez and Rojelio Martinez III of Victoria, Texas; his cherished grand dog Sunny; and brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Monday June 22, 2026 from 12:00P.M. to 9:00 P.M.at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment will follow Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Uvalde, Texas
