In Loving Memory of Yolanda Zavala

Yolanda Zavala, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. She was 83 years old.
Born on August 9, 1941, in Eagle Pass, Texas, Yolanda was the daughter of the late Manuel Reyes Luna and Julia Barragán Luna. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Yolanda was known for her warm heart, unwavering strength, and the deep care she showed to all who knew her. As the proud owner and operator of Yolanda’s Barbería, she served her community with dedication and joy, creating not only a place for haircuts but a welcoming space where countless stories were shared and friendships were formed.
She is survived by her four loving children: Ruby Zavala of Lansing, Michigan; Pearl Zavala of Uvalde, Texas; Mario Zavala of Austin, Texas; and Rita Zavala of Lansing, Michigan. Yolanda also leaves behind eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and special longtime friend, Raul Martinez, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Yolanda’s legacy of love, service, and strength.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home.
