Obituary for Lauro Vasquez
Lauro Vasquez, 42, passed away on January 20, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1983, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Sarafin Lopez and the late Yolanda Vasquez.
Lauro was a hardworking man who spent his career as a laborer in the oil and gas industry. He took pride in providing for his family and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Vasquez; his father, Sarafin Lopez; his sons, Jonathan Ray Vasquez, Emiliano Enriquez Vasquez, and daughter Desirae Summers Vasquez; and his seven cherished grandchildren, Josiah Vasquez, Janessa Vasquez, Celeste Vasquez, Aubery Vasquez, Michael Burciaga, Za’mani Cole, and Za’niyah Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Sergio Lopez, and his sisters, Martha Adames, Lisa Lopez and Samantha Lopez numerous nieces and nephews.
Lauro had a deep love for life and the people around him. He enjoyed fishing, following sports—especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys—traveling, and spending time talking with his grandchildren. Music was always playing around him, and some of his favorite moments were spent listening to music and sharing a few drinks with his two sons.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Yolanda Vasquez, and his brothers, Johnny Vela and Arturo Garza.
Lauro will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 P.M.
